HALLOWEEN COMING

Today's Halloween Customs Are Thought To Have Been Influenced By Christian Dogma And Practices Derived From It. Halloween Is The Evening Before The Christian Holy Days Of All Hallows' Day (Also Known As All Saints' Or Hallowmas) On 1 November And All Souls' Day On 2 November, Thus Giving The Holiday On 31 October The Full Name Of All Hallows' Eve (Meaning The Evening Before All Hallows' Day) Bad Habit Nun . Since The Time Of The Early Church,Major Feasts In Christianity (Such As Christmas, Easter And Pentecost) Had Vigils That Began The Night Before, As Did The Feast Of All Hallows'. These Three Days Are Collectively Called Allhallowtide And Are a Time For Honoring The Saints And Praying For The Recently Departed Souls Who Have Yet To Reach Heaven. Commemorations Of All Saints And Martyrs Were Held By Several Churches On Various Dates, Mostly In Springtime. In 609, Pope Boniface Iv Re-Dedicated The Pantheon In Rome To "St Mary And All Martyrs" On 13 May. This Was The Same Date As Lemuria, An Ancient Roman Festival Of The Dead, And The Same Date As The Commemoration Of All Saints In Edessa In The Time Of Ephrem.

The Feast Of All Hallows', On Its Current Date In The Western Church, May Be Traced To Pope Gregory Iii's (731–741) Founding Of An Oratory In St Peter's For The Relics "Of The Holy Apostles And Of All Saints, Martyrs And Confessors". In 835, All Hallows' Day Was Officially Switched To 1 November, The Same Date As Samhain, At The Behest Of Pope Gregory Iv. Some Suggest This Was Due To Celtic Influence, While Others Suggest It Was a Germanic Idea, Although It Is Claimed That Both Germanic And Celtic-Speaking Peoples Commemorated The Dead At The Beginning Of Winter. They May Have Seen It As The Most Fitting Time To Do So, As It Is a Time Of 'Dying' In Nature. It Is Also Suggested That The Change Was Made On The "Practical Grounds That Rome In Summer Could Not Accommodate The Great Number Of Pilgrims Who Flocked To It", And Perhaps Because Of Public Health Considerations Regarding Roman Fever – a Disease That Claimed a Number Of Lives During The Sultry Summers Of The Region.

By The End Of The 12th Century They Had Become Holy Days Of Obligation Across Europe And Involved Such Traditions As Ringing Church Bells For The Souls In Purgatory. In Addition, "It Was Customary For Criers Dressed In Black To Parade The Streets, Ringing a Bell Of Mournful Sound And Calling On All Good Christians To Remember The Poor Souls." "Souling", The Custom Of Baking And Sharing Soul Cakes For All Christened Souls, Has Been Suggested As The Origin Of Trick-Or-Treating. The Custom Dates Back At Least As Far As The 15th Century And Was Found In Parts Of England, Flanders, Germany And Austria. Groups Of Poor People, Often Children, Would Go Door-To-Door During Allhallowtide, Collecting Soul Cakes, In Exchange For Praying For The Dead, Especially The Souls Of The Givers' Friends And Relatives. Soul Cakes Would Also Be Offered For The Souls Themselves To Eat, Or The 'Soulers' Would Act As Their Representatives. As With The Lenten Tradition Of Hot Cross Buns, Allhallowtide Soul Cakes Were Often Marked With a Cross, Indicating That They Were Baked As Alms. Shakespeare Mentions Souling In His Comedy The Two Gentlemen Of Verona (1593). On The Custom Of Wearing Costumes, Christian Minister Prince Sorie Conteh Wrote: "It Was Traditionally Believed That The Souls Of The Departed Wandered The Earth Until All Saints' Day, And All Hallows' Eve Provided One Last Chance For The Dead To Gain Vengeance On Their Enemies Before Moving To The Next World. In Order To Avoid Being Recognized By Any Soul That Might Be Seeking Such Vengeance, People Would Don Masks Or Costumes Red Riding Hood Cosplay To Disguise Their Identities".

It Is Claimed That In The Middle Ages, Churches That Were Too Poor To Display The Relics Of Martyred Saints At Allhallowtide Let Parishioners Dress Up As Saints Instead. Some Christians Continue To Observe This Custom At Halloween Today. Lesley Bannatyne Believes This Could Have Been a Christianization Of An Earlier Pagan Custom. While Souling, Christians Would Carry With Them "Lanterns Made Of Hollowed-Out Turnips". It Has Been Suggested That The Carved Jack-o'-Lantern, a Popular Symbol Of Halloween, Originally Represented The Souls Of The Dead. On Halloween, In Medieval Europe, Fires Served a Dual Purpose, Being Lit To Guide Returning Souls To The Homes Of Their Families, As Well As To Deflect Demons From Haunting Sincere Christian Folk.Households In Austria, England And Ireland Often Had "Candles Burning In Every Room To Guide The Souls Back To Visit Their Earthly Homes". These Were Known As "Soul Lights".Many Christians In Mainland Europe, Especially In France, Believed "That Once a Year, On Hallowe'En, The Dead Of The Churchyards Rose For One Wild, Hideous Carnival" Known As The Danse Macabre, Which Has Often Been Depicted In Church Decoration. Christopher Allmand And Rosamond Mckitterick Write In The New Cambridge Medieval History That "Christians Were Moved By The Sight Of The Infant Jesus Playing On His Mother's Knee; Their Hearts Were Touched By The Pietà; And Patron Saints Reassured Them By Their Presence. But, All The While, The Danse Macabre Urged Them Not To Forget The End Of All Earthly Things." This Danse Macabre Was Enacted At Village Pageants And At Court Masques, With People "Dressing Up As Corpses From Various Strata Of Society", And May Have Been The Origin Of Modern-Day Halloween Costume Parties.

HISTORY OF CHRISTMAS

Christmas Is Celebrated On December 25 And Is Both a Sacred Religious Holiday And a Worldwide Cultural And Commercial Phenomenon.

For Two Millennia, People Around The World Have Been Observing It With Traditions And Practices That Are Both Religious And Secular In Nature. Christians Celebrate Christmas Day As The Anniversary Of The Birth Of Jesus Of Nazareth, a Spiritual Leader Whose Teachings Form The Basis Of Their Religion. Popular Customs Include Exchanging Gifts, Wear Christmas Costumes, Attending Church, Sharing Meals With Family And Friends And, Of Course, Waiting For Santa Claus To Arrive. December 25–Christmas Day–Has Been a Federal Holiday In The United States Since 1870.

How Did Christmas Start?

The Middle Of Winter Has Long Been a Time Of Celebration Around The World. Centuries Before The Arrival Of The Man Called Jesus, Early Europeans Celebrated Light And Birth In The Darkest Days Of Winter. Many Peoples Rejoiced During The Winter Solstice, When The Worst Of The Winter Was Behind Them And They Could Look Forward To Longer Days And Extended Hours Of Sunlight.

In Scandinavia, The Norse Celebrated Yule From December 21, The Winter Solstice, Through January. In Recognition Of The Return Of The Sun, Fathers And Sons Would Bring Home Large Logs, Which They Would Set On Fire. The People Would Feast Until The Log Burned Out, Which Could Take As Many As 12 Days. The Norse Believed That Each Spark From The Fire Represented a New Pig Or Calf That Would Be Born During The Coming Year.

The End Of December Was a Perfect Time For Celebration In Most Areas Of Europe. At That Time Of Year, Most Cattle Were Slaughtered So They Would Not Have To Be Fed During The Winter. For Many, It Was The Only Time Of Year When They Had a Supply Of Fresh Meat. In Addition, Most Wine And Beer Made During The Year Was Finally Fermented And Ready For Drinking.

In Germany, People Honored The Pagan God Oden During The Mid-Winter Holiday. Germans Were Terrified Of Oden, As They Believed He Made Nocturnal Flights Through The Sky To Observe His People, And Then Decide Who Would Prosper Or Perish. Because Of His Presence, Many People Chose To Stay Inside.

In Rome, Where Winters Were Not As Harsh As Those In The Far North, Saturnalia—a Holiday In Honor Of Saturn, The God Of Agriculture—Was Celebrated. Beginning In The Week Leading Up To The Winter Solstice And Continuing For a Full Month, Saturnalia Was a Hedonistic Time, When Food And Drink Were Plentiful And The Normal Roman Social Order Was Turned Upside Down. For a Month, Slaves Would Become Masters. Peasants Were In Command Of The City. Business And Schools Were Closed So That Everyone Could Join In The Fun.

Also Around The Time Of The Winter Solstice, Romans Observed Juvenalia, a Feast Honoring The Children Of Rome. In Addition, Members Of The Upper Classes Often Celebrated The Birthday Of Mithra, The God Of The Unconquerable Sun, On December 25,Christmas Elf Cosplay, It Was Believed That Mithra, An Infant God, Was Born Of a Rock. For Some Romans, Mithra’s Birthday Was The Most Sacred Day Of The Year.

In The Canon Of Nightlife Fashion, His Influence Lives On In The Singular Herve Leger Bandage Dress And Its Many Knockoff Iterations. Its Distinctly Taut And Seductive Design Has Hugged The Bodies Of Famous Women And Body-Con-Loving Fashion Fans Over The Years, Hitting a Mainstream Peak In The Late 2000s. The New York Times, In a Piece About The “Pour-Me-Into-It Party Dress” In 2007, Noted That Leger’s Thousand-Dollar Dresses “Have Been The Hottest Items At Intermix This Fall, But Similarly Fitted Dresses From Robert Rodriguez For Under $500 And Bandage Skirts From Privee For $225 Have Also Been Popular.”

A Designer For Herve Leger (Under Max Azria) Was Fired In 2015 For Stating That “Voluptuous” Women Shouldn’t Wear Bandage Dresses.

There Was a Time When Kim Kardashian, Keeper Of Bodycon Ensembles, Had To Be Pried Away From a Herve Leger Mini Dress.

The Most Visible Herve Enthusiast, Kim Dedicated a Blog Post To Her Infatuation In 2016, Writing, “I Would Literally Save Up All My Paychecks And Go Wait, Stalk The Girls That Worked At Herve And Just Get All The New Colors.” Her Stylist, Later On, Had To Toss About 30 Bandage Dresses From Her Closet During a Style Reinvention, And Yet The Silhouette Endures. In Fashion And Pop Culture, Leroux Leaves Behind a Definitive Image.

Herve Leger, The Original Creator, Was Born In Northern France In 1957. Somehow In 1980, He Ended Up In Paris Studying Under The Fashion Legend Karl Lagerfeld. After Many Years Of Working With Extremely Notable Designers Such As Lanvin, In 1989, He Created His Trademark Fabric, a Stretchy Combination That Would Fit Tightly Around a Woman's Curves.

In 1998, The Herve Leger Was Acquired By Bcbg Max Azria Group. In 2007, Max Azria Relaunched Herve Leger.

The Original Herve Leger Still Sells Couture Bandage Dresses,  But Now Under The Name Of Herve Leroux.

Herve Leger Bandage Dresses Were Hugely Popular In The Early 90's. They Were First Seen Amongst Supermodels Like Tyra Banks And Cindy Crawford. Popularity Died Off After Manufacturing Of The Dresses Were Halted, But As Of The Recent Few Years When Bcbg Re-Introduced The Brand, Herve Leger Has Become Once Again One Of The Most Sought After Dresses.

Herve Leger Gown Are Extremely Recognizable. Under Camera, Many Of The Dresses Reflect a Seductive Sheen While Deliciously Enhancing The Wearer's Body.

HERVE LEGER

Herve Leger

Herve Leger Dresses, Sometimes Deliberately Written As Herve Leger (French Pronunciation: [Ɛʁ.Ve Le.Ʒe]), Is a French Fashion House Founded By The Designer Herve Peugnet, Also Known As Herve L. Leroux.

Herve Leger Was Founded In 1985 By The Designer Herve Peugnet (1957–2017). The Same Year Karl Lagerfeld Advised Peugnet That His Surname Peugnet Would Be Too Difficult For Americans, The Target Market, To Pronounce, And Instead Suggested The Surname Leger.Having Lost The Rights To The Herve Leger Dress Name, Peugnet Later Took a Third "Brand" Name As Herve L. Leroux In 2000

f:id:legercheap:20201019202153p:plain

Peugnet Pioneered The Creation Of So-Called Bandage Dresses, So-Called "Body-Con" (Body-Conscious) Garments Made Using Materials Traditionally Associated With Foundation Garments To Create Bandage Dresses That Would Mold And Shape The Wearer's Figure With Its Signature Bandage-Like Strips.

One Of The Peculiarities Of Herve Leger Garments Is That They Are Knitted, Not Woven.

In September 1998, Herve Leger Was Acquired By The Bcbg Max Azria Group From The Seagram's Group. This Was The First-Ever Acquisition Of a French Couturier By An American Designer, Though Azria Is Tunisian And Grew Up In France. Ohana & Co., a Boutique Investment Bank, Advised Seagram's On The Sale.

f:id:legercheap:20201019202222p:plain

In April 2007, Max Azria Relaunched The Herve Leger Brand Under His Own Design Direction With a Capsule Summer Collection, Which Was Offered At Select Department Stores And Specialty Boutiques. In August 2007, The Remodeled Herve Leger Boutique Opened On Rodeo Drive In Beverly Hills. In February 2008, Max Azria Presented The Herve Leger By Max Azria Collection At Bryant Park During The Fall 2008 New York Fashion Week.
